Company Description
NeoPhore is a biotech company targeting the dynamics of cancer neoantigen evolution through inhibition of the DNA mismatch repair (“MMR”) pathway, by changing the genotype of the tumour, to discover effective, well-tolerated medicines that will provide the next generation of cancer immunotherapies. NeoPhore collaborates closely with many academic and commercial organisations, including NeoPhore’s scientific founders Professor Alberto Bardelli and Dr Giovanni Germano at the University of Turin and Milan.

NeoPhore currently has 15 full-time employees and operates a primarily virtual drug discovery & development model. We have a dedicated internal Cancer Cell Biology (CCB) laboratory based at City St George’s University, in South London, where most of the innovative Biology associated with the progression of a first-in-class molecule is being performed. As the work outputs from novel investigative translational studies have successfully intensified and continues to progress and develop at pace, an opportunity has arisen for a bioinformatician or data scientist to join our team and support the bioinformatics function.

NeoPhore is seeking a bioinformatician or data scientist with knowledge in genomics, and NGS data analyses to support the bioinformatic function in the team. The successful candidate will mainly work alongside NeoPhore's Lead Computational Biologist, to provide accurate and timely-efficient analyses on experimental data to help extract biological insights on the key efficacy readouts following pharmacological inhibition of the DNA MMR pathway. Evidence for a flexible and cooperative approach to working in a dynamic, collaborative and multi-disciplinary team environment, together with strong team ethic, are also essential. Important aspects of this role are, the ability to work and communicate effectively with team members and internal stakeholders from a wide variety of backgrounds. The ideal candidate will possess a strong desire to work in a fast-moving small molecule-focused translational research environment and needs to be highly analytical, self-motivated and organised.

The position is remote with monthly visits to the team in NeoPhore’s CCB laboratory in London (UK).

• Test different software modules (tools) for biomarkers such as TMB, COSMIC signatures, MSI and more, under the guidance of the Lead Computational Biologist.
• Support internal and external collaborations by preparing datasets, running analyses, contributing to project deliverables, and preparing presentations.
• Assess and summarise literature findings to identify technical solutions and support project progression.
• Work collaboratively within a matrix environment.

Requirements
• Knowledge in bioinformatics, statistics, genomics, and oncology.
• Fluent in at least one programming language with preference in python, and bash/Linux.
• Master’s or PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, statistics, life sciences or related field.
• Be willing to work in a fast-moving small molecule-focused translational research environment and hold a record of successful delivery of scientific projects.
• Strong communication skills to work collaboratively within a matrix environment.
• Positive, passionate, with a can-do attitude.

Appointment Details:
The full-time position is home-based, with a 12-month fixed-term contract, and regular visits to the CCB laboratory facilities, based at City St George’s University, London, UK, and reporting to the Principal Scientist, Computational Biology.
